Human Rights Committee

The Arc of Plymouth and Upper Cape Cod’s Human Rights Committee meets regularly to review the organization’s practices related to the human and civil rights of the individuals we support, in accordance with Department of Developmental Services (DDS) regulations. The Committee serves as an additional safeguard to affirm, promote, and protect the rights of the people we serve.

The Human Rights Committee is comprised of dedicated community volunteers who work in partnership with the organization’s Human Rights Coordinator. Committee membership includes a physician or nurse, a psychologist or master’s-level clinician, and an attorney, law student, or paralegal. Individuals receiving services and family members are also represented, ensuring that diverse perspectives help guide the Committee’s work.

The Committee meets quarterly to review relevant matters and conducts regular site visits to provide valuable insight on behalf of the individuals and families supported by The Arc. Members receive specialized training and ongoing support from the Human Rights Coordinator to help them fulfill their important role.

Family Advisory Council

The Family Advisory Council works in partnership with The Arc of Plymouth and Upper Cape Cod to provide the family voice and unique perspective to the organization’s programs and development, while supporting the agency’s mission. The Council provides a unique opportunity to strengthen our partnerships with families in the best interest of those we support.
