Arc President & CEO Appointed to ANCOR Foundation's Board of Directors

The Arc of Plymouth and Upper Cape Cod is pleased to share that President and CEO, Mary Valachovic, was recently appointed to the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) Foundation’s Board of Directors, a national foundation created to support the development of innovative programs and disseminate information that will improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.

Mary’s previous involvement with an ANCOR committee focused on leadership development was a testament to her commitment to human services and to helping support future leaders in the field. As such, the ANCOR Foundation, a 501(c)(3), voted to appoint Valachovic to their Board of Directors.

“I am incredibly excited and honored for the opportunity to work alongside my talented counterparts to continue the mission of the Foundation,” said Mary. “My work at The Arc of Plymouth and Upper Cape Cod allows me to work closely with the community, to ensure people with disabilities and their families are receiving the support they need. Being appointed to the ANCOR Foundation’s Board will grant me the ability to support future leaders in the human services field to strengthen those same inclusive communities served by The Arc.”

Through dynamic education and innovative practices such as a Leadership Academy, an immersive two-year program, Case for Inclusion, a comprehensive tool evaluating how well state programs in all 50 states are serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be included, supported and empowered in the community, and sponsorship of the Leadership Institutes of the National Leadership Consortium on Developmental Disabilities, the ANCOR Foundation strives to “recognize current and past leaders and to develop future leaders through dynamic education and innovative practices to strengthen inclusive communities for people with disabilities.”
