Shared Living

The Shared Living Program offers adults with disabilities an opportunity to live in the community in the supportive home of a Shared Living Provider. Shared Living Providers are non-family members who have the desire to open their home to provide support and companionship to an adult with a developmental or intellectual disability, autism or brain injury.

Living arrangements offer supervision in a typical home setting while allowing for community involvement in social and recreational activities. The stability, safety, health, and personal welfare, including quality of life, of the person is ensured.

The Arc of Plymouth and Upper Cape Cod has a team of Shared Living Providers who are not simply caregivers but advocates and mentors that promote self-sufficiency through full home and community integration.

“The Arc has given me independence and the opportunity to do things myself, but I know I have help if I need it.”
