The ADDP Board of Directors will see some new faces at the meeting table, as four new members were recently appointed.
Ken Bates, President & CEO of Open Sky Community Services (Central/West); Chris Tuttle, President & CEO of Bridgewell (Northeast); Maureen Costello-Shea, Chief Program Officer at The Guild for Human Services (Northeast); and Mary Valachovic, Executive Director of The Arc of Plymouth and Upper Cape Cod (Southeast) will start their terms on the Board July 1.

Community Foundation grants help with Taunton area Nonprofits
New Bedford - This third round of grants is for nonprofits operating within the Taunton, Attleboro and Plymouth region working in the areas of food insecurity and support for immigrants, essential frontline workers, families and individuals with disabilities. The organizations include the Arc of Greater Plymouth and Upper Cape Cod, Inc., which empowers and supports people with disabilities and their families.

HYANNIS – The Arc of Greater Plymouth is extending its services over the bridges to the Upper Cape through to Hyannis. The Arc provides service for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism, and brain injuries.

A Day in the Life: Meet Two Residents of a MA ABI Home
Developed for The Arc of Greater Plymouth, this new construction project was designed for five residents with acquired brain injury (ABI). Completed in 2018, residents moved in just in time for the winter holidays. On a sunny fall day, we had the opportunity to spend time with two of the residents, Wendy and Judy, as they reflected on the upcoming one year anniversary of living in their new home.

Positive Behavioral Supports Through Our Eyes: An Innovative and Inclusive Approach to PBS
The Arc of Greater Plymouth has been part of the Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS) Initiative for several years. The tools of PBS have allowed the agency to further enhance its mission “to empower and support people with disabilities and their families to belong, contribute and thrive.” It was slightly over a year ago that the efforts to create a strong support culture based on the values of PBS took a turn. The Arc of Greater Plymouth formed a PBS Champion Team which is comprised of four individuals supported by The Arc and several staff members who are part of the PBS Leadership Team.
